www.fleamarketmakeovers.blogspot.com

You asked a question, and you left no way to contact you so, I hope you read this....the curtains are from Country Curtains, but they were purchased in 2007 so I don't know if they still have them.  You can find Country Curtains online at www.countrycurtains.com

Come See My New Blog!

Since Lavender Hill Studio is MUCH more than just mosaics, I am closing this blog down and starting a new one called,

Flea Market Makeovers
by Lavender Hill Studio

The new blog will still feature my mosaic work, but will also feature much more.

About My New Blog:

Welcome to Flea Market Makeovers by Lavender Hill Studio!

If you love antiquing, thrifting and going to the flea market, you will love this blog!

My name is Penny Carlson and I own Lavender Hill Studio. I love finding old cast off items and fixing them up to give them a new life. From furniture to fabric and salvage to silver plate, anything is fair game.

Come along with me as we go to flea markets, antique stores and more. I will be taking my video camera along with me on some of my shopping trips, so you can see the whole process of reinventing a piece. I will show you what I look out for and what I avoid.

Then we will go back to the studio, and I will get to work. You will see amazing transformations in before and after photos. I will post tutorials from time to time.

So head on over to Flea Market Makeovers by Lavender Hill Studio and sign up as a follower.  You won't want to miss a single post!   Simply click on the link at the beginning of this post or on my sidebar.

I will leave this blog up so you can always go back and see older posts.
I hope to see you there!

A Quick Follow Up

I just wanted to do a quick follow up on the post a did a few weeks back, about spending time in my backyard instead of in the studio.

I had mentioned everypatiofurniture  as a place I was looking for some more goodies for my backyard garden.  I found something I really love!

I ordered this potting bench from everypatiofurniture and it arrived quickly.  Mr. Lavender Hill Studio, put it together in a jiffy.

I have wanted one of these for years and I am thrilled to pieces with it!

Coming Soon!

I have been playing around with an idea for several months now. Actually ever since I had my shoulder surgery last December.

I am going to close down my Lavender Hill Studio blog and start a new blog that encompasses all that I do in my studio. I do more than mosaics. I make-over flea market, thrift store and auction items too,

In the new blog, I will be taking you a long with me to flea markets, thrift stores and antiquing. I will have a video camera with me on some of the outings.

Then we will come back to the studio, and make things over. Some items will be painted, some will be turned into lamps. Some I will mosaic.

I will show you before and after photos and some video how-to tutorials.

Sound like fun? The new blog will debut in June. I will be having a giveaway on the the new blog when it debuts. Sign up now as a follower on Flea Market Makeovers to be entered in the giveaway.

To sign up as a follower, simply click on this link, Flea Market Makeovers and sign up under Followers on the side bar.

Less Time In The Studio, More Time In The Backyard

If you are thinking I have not been creating very many mosaic pieces lately, you are correct.

I have been spending time in my backyard, getting it ready for summer.  Last fall we created a fire pit area and took our back porch furniture off of the porch and placed it around the firepit.  See the picture below.

Now, I want to put this back on the porch and get 4 comfy all weather chairs to sit around the firepit.  I think chairs are more flexable that loveseats.

I found the one below at everypatiofurniture and I love it.  It looks very similar to my back porch furniture, don't you think?
Ebony Chair

I have also been working on painting my kitchen furniture.  I have been having trouble with the top of the table.  It makes me wonder if it would have been smarted to sell my set and buy a new already painted one, like the one I found at Dining Furniture in the picture below.

I will be back in my studio soon....once I get this all figured out - lol.
