The Birds and the Bees

The Birds and The Bees.....

You could never tell it now, but up until a year or so ago, I was a plain beige type person. I painted my walls beige, bought beige furniture. Had off white bedding. Planted mostly just evergreen plants instead of flowers...

Then all of a sudden I woke up one day craving COLOR and WHIMSY!! Thank goodness I met Donna of Donna's Art blog. She has a little shop on ETSY called Whimsy Two , where she sells all kinds of wonderful whimsical hand painted items.

I purchased this adorable bird house, and the cute Garden sign from her. Mr. Lavender Hill Studio nailed the sign to my fence post at the entrance to my courtyard. Then I hung the sweet Garden sign on the perch....cute, huh?!!

You might have seen this bloom sign a few post back on my bird sound video. Donna painted this sign too. I love it hanging in front of my hanging baskets...

So, if you are looking for a little WHIMSY in your life, go see Donna and tell her Penny sent you!

Lovely birdhouse. You were very very busy this weekend. Your courtyard is so pretty. I sat around most of the weekend. It was quite hot here.
You have inspired me to get a little more work done tomorrow.

Love the bird house and signs. There needs to be more whimsy in everyone's lives.

Here in the UK we have had a huge fashion of beige too- the Ikea influence urging us to "chuck out our chintz" a few years ago. I loved colour and flowers too much to bother. Now the trend is retro and I'm feeling trendy for a while.

The mulch looked really good too. It really helped the plants stand out. Well done for that mamouth task.

Wow, that is a surprise I have a hard time seeing you in beige …
Love the bird house and sign…

I am just the opposite; I crave the white on white tones, but splash color all over… I had this yellow gold phase a while back and my whole down stairs is painted gold yellows to soft yellows… I tried to move away from this and decided to paint my family room an ivory with green undertones. … the paint was not mixed right and I came home to an almost deco yellow ….. My family room has cathedral ceilings so I didn’t have the
heart to asks my husband and son to repaint it, so I just added more color with pillows and other things…

Donna's charm is bringing delight to many of our homes. She certainly does lovely work.

I have something to post she made, too, but it is a Father's Day gift so I have to wait. I can't have my husband seeing it ahead of time.

Thank you, Penny. The signs and the bird house look great! I'm so glad you like them.

Hi Penny, I love Donna's work!! I'm with you, last year when we moved here, all the walls got painted wonderful, cheerful colors. My livingroom is a butter yellow and let me tell you, in winter time, it is so sunny and happy to look at.

Good morning Penny! Love your signs! And your mosiacs show your love of color now! They are all just beautiful! I went through that phase a couple of years...beige & brown everything! Now I'm back to my "color" roots too! LOL! You mentioned the Raleigh Flea Market! I love that place too! That is where the festival was held. The tractors were on the backside of the fairgrounds complex. The fireworks were held each night over the pond and they were amazing!!! But even at 9 in the morning Saturday, it was too miserable to do much shopping! LOL!

Hope you have a blessed day!
Hugs, Rhonda ;)

I finally did watch the men's finals of the French Open. It just boggles my mind I didn't watch any more than that. Years ago I wouldn't have missed a minute of the whole thing. ~ Stay cool ~ Lynn
