Here are a couple of "BEFORE" pictures of my office/studio. First the computer area.

And below the before closet. It was filled with two shelves that stored some of my china.

Here is the after pictures....first the closet now. It holds my computer and my office stuff. Magazines, files, stapler etc...

Now, we are walking around the perimeter of the office/studio. Below you see the entrance door.

If you were standing in my doorway this is the direction you would be facing. The white shabby table we bought at a flea market in Tennessee about 4 years ago. It is where I do most of my mosaic work...the cutting and placing of china. But not the grouting. The grouting is done in my garage.

This picture shows the two shelves I decided to leave in my studio. It holds my favorite china and stained glass. The rest of the shelves of china (5 more to be exact) are in the garage. See the drop leave table? That was the red table in my kitchen nook, that you now see in my header. I waxed the top with Briwax and everything I placed on top left a mark. So I sanded it all off and now I am going to mosaic the top. I will show you the finished table in the future.

Here you see the blackboard I showed in an earlier post and two of the prints I purchased from Teresa at French Poppy. The third print from Teresa is over my desk, by the lamp I just remade the shade for.

Now you are looking at the closet/office. You can see a lot of the items I posted about this past week. One of the things I hinted about is......the curtains. I had planned on putting the bi-fold doors back on the closet to keep out the dust, but I would not have been able to open my file cabinet door if I did that. So my solution was to sew a couple of curtains from my favorite red toile and hang them from a rod at the closet opening. Now I can pull them closed when I am not using the computer.

The white magazine files and black storage boxes on the shelf are from The Container Store. More shots at the closet follow.

This is the wall I use as my photography studio. I am able to place plates or pictures on the wall for background and used the dresser and small table as props. All of my pictures for my website are created here.

This is a picture of a shelf in my studio. This mosaic piece is one of the FIRST ones I ever did. I keep it to remind me of how much I have learned in the past 8 years....You can see the sweet painting that Cathie of Catherine Holman Folk Art painted for me. And the two ladies came from my sister....

I purchased the memory board on ebay....

The mouse pad came from http://www.casualcottage.com/. The wire ETC basket came from an ebayer buyer named The Polka Dot Bear. The letter "P" came from Michaels and I spray painted it black.

The now newly painted red drawers (and file cabinet) were painted with Valspar spray paint in Wine. Purchased at Lowe's. Then I added some crystal knobs that I have had for a while. The cup with the Initial P came from Anthropolgie.

The chair cushion and the valance above the windows were made by Shelley at Judd Home Decor. I highly recommend her. She also made my dining chair and kitchen nook cushions (seen in my new header).
This little bundle below is a black board eraser. Simply cut out a circle of fabric, filled with cotton balls and tie at the top with ribbon. A black board eraser that coordinates with your room!!

If there is anything here you see, that I have not mentioned, please feel free to email me and ask...
The obstacles I had with my office/studio is that it is just that...and office and a studio. I do most of my mosaic work in my studio. So, there is a lot of dust and broken china flying. I needed a place to mosaic, take photos of the finished product for my website, storage (though most of the china is now in the garage and all of the shipping boxes, packing peanuts, bubble wrap, furniture waiting to be finished etc is in the yellow barn). So for now, this will work. It it not the most beautiful office...not the most convenient studio. But, it is what it is. For now...it works just fine :-).
NOW, on to other things! I will be having a 300 post giveaway in three more posts! So stay tuned!!

Your office /studio turned out beautiful!! I love the colors. They are the same colors that I am using in my kitchen. I painted my hutch black and a small buffet. I am in the process of painting my cabinets a cream color. I didn't want to use too much black. It is such a strong color. My accents are red and my walls are yellow. I will post photos when I get finished. I know that you put a lot of hard work into it. I like your new banner too. Thanks for helping me to get music on my blog!!
Looks GREAT Penny!!!! I LOVE IT:)
You have such an eye for things & what color & where to put what!!

Oh, Penny, it worth waiting for! You did such a nice job. I need to finish up my office/sewing room. I'm thinking of doing what you did with your office. My sweetheart made a sewing area in my closet by I think I would like that out in the room and have the office put into the closet. I'll see what I decide. You'll know because I'll share it with you. Thanks for the inspiration. You should be very proud of yourself. You deserve a hug and a pat on the back! If I were close by I'd do that. ~Adrienne~
Oh, Penny! Your office is so beautiful! You have thought of everything, haven't you? I like the red toile much better than the black. Oh, you're tring to get me inspired!! I'm so glad to bring to you a sweet memory!!

It's so comforting to turn a room in which you spend so much of your time into a haven, with all the fabrics and colors that you love. I think you have done a fabulous job on your haven.I would like to be a birdie on your shoulder and watch you spend your days creating.

Love it Penny! And I love that little idea of the blackboard eraser...how clever! :)
Penny,
I just love this room, it's so pretty…
I love the idea of the curtains instead of the door; it looks so much softer…
Sometimes a can’t do turns out to be a better do…
I had to smile when you said, “it is what it is” because that has been
My hubby’s favorite saying this summer…..

Penny, what a fantastic room! I am going to borrow several of your ideas. In fact, I'll have a new eraser for my old schoolroom chalkboard before my head hits the pillow tonight; thanks for the ideas. My personal favorite is the wooden chair at your computer desk. I love those sturdy old chairs, and the red toile cushion is perfect. Thanks for the lovely tour!
It is so lovely bright and airy Penny! I adore some of the touches, like the curtains and the crystal knobs.

I knew this would be fun to see! I love all you have done, Penny. You did such a beautiful job and I really enjoyed the tour.

Hi Penny, WOW, I love your studio office redo. It is just fantastic. I love the red toile and each and every touch is wonderful. The closet curtain closure is perfect and makes the room look bigger at the same time. Right down to the darling blackboard eraser, what a great idea that is. I may have to try that one for mine.
Thank you also for your mention of my studio for inspiration. I am so honored that my humble space gave you a bit of ispiration along with the other great spaces.
Isn't it so refreshing going to work in such a wonderful room? Makes it so fun to be in there. Being surrounded by all your pretties everyday is a blessing.

I'm late as usual but your new workspace -- and banner are super!
I've got some black and white toile in the garage left over from a photo shoot that I'm still waiting to use. Hmm... maybe my funky office decor could go black and white.
Wow, your studio is beautiful. I love the toile. How fun to have a special place to take your photo's. I always have to clear off a table or something. I love the drapes, I think it makes it a lot cozier than doors would have. You are very talented.

Hi Penny!
I LOVE your new office! You did a great job on it! The use of the red & cream toile is just scrumptious with the dark red painted pieces!
Hugs, Sherry
OMG, it's so gorgeous! I'm super envious of anyone who has a whole ROOM, and you have made such great use of all of your space. I have the black toile in my kitchen and bath, and the red in every other room in my house, so of course I adore this. I really might have to go and buy that mouse pad right now! Thanks so much, your room is really an inspiration.
Oh My! Thanx for letting me know where to find the pictures of your studio! Just Love it...I need to get y office/craft room in order! Your My Inspiration as usual! So Glad I found your Blog!:)
Oh wow! I was thrilled to see that the very picture you used as inspiration was the same one that inspired me last year to redo my guestroom closet into a hideaway office! I'm in love with toile too, especially red - but since my guestroom is in pinks and white I chose a pink toile. Magnifique! I'd say you and I bear out the phrase "brilliant minds think alike" - LOL Hugs, Sharon (Come for tea)
