It has a pretty gold trimmed creamy china edge too!

"Sweet" and Petite

Here is another "Sweet" lamp made from a vintage silver plate sugar bowl. This poor sugar bowl was discovered in a thrift shop, tarnished and all alone. So I brought it to my studio and worked a little magic on it. First it was wired into a little lamp. Then the fun began.

I covered it with one of my favorite vintage china patterns.

The front is slightly different than the back. Available here.... SOLD!

"Check" This Out!

Last month I did a post about a wonderful gift package I received in the mail from Lee Laurie at A Southern Rose blog spot. One of the gifts she gave me was this cute rooster piece that she thought I might like to mosaic. She was right! I gave you a sneak peak in the last post (see the post below this one). The first picture below shows the rooster piece in it's original form.

And here it is now. You can click the pictures to enlarge. The perfect Country French accent piece for your home. This looks great with an ivy plant inside. Other wonderful uses could be, guest towels rolled up and stacked inside, kitchen utensils, bath soaps, out going mail, potpourri...

What would you use it for? Available on my website, here.

Heart of My Heart

Here is the latest piece created at Lavender Hill Studio. A romantic mosaic heart peg.

Wouldn't this look great in a little girls room with a vintage baby dress hanging on the peg? How about the mud room with the puppy leash? In your bath to hold a guest towel or your necklaces at the end of the day. Cute in the kitchen to hold dish towels too. Where would you use it?
Available on my website, here.

Cottage Cutey! A Mosaic Blackboard

Isn't this cute! This sweet chalkboard is covered in pretty vintage aqua and rose china pieces. (Click on the pictures to enlarge....)

It looks great with the cottage table I showed you a few weeks ago! Can't you just see the two of these in a foyer or mudroom? The perfect place to leave messages for family or guests. The table has a little drawer perfect for keys or the puppy leash.

The "eraser" is a piece of rose covered fabric, filled with cotton balls and tied with pretty aqua ribbon...

The outside of the chalk holder is covered in broken china....

The inside has pretty roses cascading around the holder.

The edges of the chalkboard are covered in pretty aqua china too!

Portfolio

I am so excited! I have been featured in the Asheville Citizen Times newspaper today! Every week in the Sunday edition, they have a column called Portfolio. In Portfolio they feature local artists in the area. They ask for submission, and I submitted some photos a few weeks ago. They accepted my submissions and interviewed me for the article. Here is a copy below. You can click on the picture to enlarge it.

There is also an online version, that includes more pictures and the ability to enlarge the photos. Just be aware if you enlarge my photo - you will see a lot of wrinkles - lol.
Here is the link to the online version:

On to other news...I am almost finished with my latest project and I can't wait to show you! I will be posting a picture in a couple of days.

The Latest Edition of the Pencil Mug

Here is the latest edition of the mosaic pencil mug. Susan from Blackberry Creek ask me if I could create one with a cardinal. Of course I could!

It's looks so nice on my studio desk, I almost want to keep it :-). If you don't know Susan, go visit her at Blackberry Creek. She is the most amazing quilter and also makes some wonderful altered art pieces. She lives in a beautiful yellow house, that I was fortunate enough to make a mosaic sign for (you can see it on her sidebar). Tell her Penny sent you!
